Un question posée à Quesada :

Can we get a straight answer on the next Ultimate crossover? Is it Invasion (Kree-Skrull War), or is it going to be Ultimate (Infinity) Gauntlet? Any date in mind?

JQ: Funny you should ask, because we’ve been debating it at this summit. I’ll have more to report on it later in the year since it won’t be happening until summer or later next year.

OUAIS !!!!!!!!!!

FEELING A LITTLE THOR

Warren Ellis would like me to tell people that he's not the writer of the upcoming Thor comic. He's been there, done that, either doesn't want to or hasn't been asked. So leave the poor man alone to write more "NextWave", "newuniversal" or his Icon project that Marvel are eeking out.

Anyway, he can't be writing Thor. Joe Michael Straczynski is.

And here's Stuart Immomen's Joe Friday illustration that slipped through the Newsarama cracks.

et ça aussi ...le prochain MEGA EVENEMENT de Marvel !!! lol! lol!

Spinning out of "Ultimate Extinction," the Ultimate Universe's Vision, a starkly different female version of Marvel Comics' classic character, will be getting her own five part mini-series later this year, entitled "Ultimate Vision.

The "Onslaught Reborn" panel garnered a lot of applause and Loeb said it starts with the "No More Mutants" phrase from "House Of M." The Scarlet Witch's effects on Professor X and Magneto have helped to bring back Onslaught, who now wants to find Franklin Richards and kill him. It's a personal story for Loeb, who wanted to write about how a son can be your most important thing in the world (his son Sam recently passed away), and will donate some of the proceeds from "Onslaught Reborn" to the Sam Loeb Foundation. You'll get hints at how Loeb and Liefeld would have really ended their work on "Heroes Reborn," had they not been yanked off the series. "There's some kick ass stuff there," said Loeb of the new "Reborn."

In time for the team's 45th anniversary, Alan Davis' Fantastic Four: The End will debut in November, giving a possible ending of Marvel's first family of heroes.

Premières images d'Ultimate Power :

# As to why the Hulk is in the Onslaught Reborn series, Loeb said that there is a plan and a reason why, and it will be made clear.

”Something's in the works," Greg Pak said in regards to the Hulk's return to Earth. "In ‘Planet Hulk’, you see him smashing and bashing things, and that's not likely to change anytime soon." Issue #100 will feature a look back at Earth, and, according to Pak, may give some hints as to what's going to happen in regards to the Hulk and a possible return to Earth.

Suspect

“In House of M #7 Dr. Strange suggests that Scarlet Witch brought Magneto back to life following ‘Planet X’. This neatly wiped away all of the mess over Magneto/Xorn being two different people and reaffirmed what was a great ending to Morrison's run on New X-Men. What was the need to bring it all back up again in New Avengers and make them be two separate people (which was never Morrison's intention)?"

During the Marvel Civil War panel in San Diego, you mentioned that there were plans for Wanda Maximoff. Can you tell us some? Will the Scarlet Witch appear anywhere than in the next run of Young Avengers, as had been mentioned earlier?

JQ: New Avengers #26

et à propos de Thor :

Are we going to get an explanation of how Thor's hammer got rebuilt and ended up traveling through different dimensions??? The last time I saw Thor his hammer was shattered and he had mastered the magic of the runes, I think real Thor fans would like to know if you guys have any plans to reveal what happened.

JQ: be patient, the whole story of Thor’s return will play out across the Marvel Universe in the coming months. Come on, you waited this long, right?

Officially announced (although previously mentioned) during today’s Mondo Marvel panel at Chicago, Wonder Man: My Fair Supervillian is scheduled as a five-issue mini-series beginning in December, written by fan-fav vet Peter David and illustrated by Andrew Currie.

Spiraling out of Friday’s Mondo Marvel announcements at Chicago is the return of the What If? one-shots. While past issues have focused on long-time classic events from the Marvel Universe, these newest installments cover recent classics and fresh wounds in the heart of the 616 Universe.

Marvel has provided LENIDDESBUSES which as much information regarding these five one-shots shipping in November and December. They are as follows…

WHAT IF? AVENGERS DISASSEMBLED
Written by Jeff Parker
Penciled by Aaron Lopresti
Cover by Gary Frank
"The Avengers have the same unfortunate tendency as ordinary law enforcement. Once we have a perpetrator to hang the crime on, we look no further."- Dr. Hank McCoy

It was the darkest day in Avengers history. Heroes died, the mansion was destroyed, and the team came to an end. But was the real problem solved? What if the greatest threat had gone undetected?

WHAT IF: SPIDER-MAN: THE OTHER
Written by Peter David
Penciled by Koi Pham
Cover by Mark Brooks
In "The Other," Peter Parker returned from the dead and embraced his "inner spider.” But WHAT IF the detente that was reached between man and arachnid had not ended there? What if the man known as Peter Parker had been completely consumed by his inner, bestial impulses, and became more spider than man?
32 PGS

WHAT IF? WOLVERINE: ENEMY OF THE STATE
Written by Jimmie Robinson
Penciled by Carmine Di Giandomenico
Cover by Doug Alexander
What if the world's deadliest killing machine was never de-programmed? Over half a year has passed since the Hand took control of Wolverine, forcing him to assassinate one great hero after another. Now only a handful of super-powered beings are left to stop him. Who will risk their life to end the path of death and destruction? Written by the creator of indie sensation Bomb Queen.
32 PGS .

More Information on December’s What If? Age of Apocalypse by writer Rick Remender and What If? X-Men: Deadly Genesis by writer David Hine and artist David Yardin is forthcoming.

et toujours plus de news en direct de Chicago !!

# Alan Davis' Fantastic Four: The End begins in November. Tom Brevoort said the team breaks up by page 3 of the first issue and the story is an examination of where they are, what happens to the world because of their break-up, and the team coming together one last time for one last adventure.

Kaare Andrews upcoming Marvel Knights project, originally referred to as The Spider, is now entitled Spider-Man: Reign. Joe Quesada said it's a look at Spider-Man in the future. Look for more details on that project soon.

Les nouvelles séries X-23 et White Tiger :

Quesada reiterated that David Mack has pitched a new Marvel project but he didn't reveal what it was or when it will publish.

The announcement of Mike Turner's Marvel project will be made Saturday, according to Jeph Loeb.

ATTENTION SPOILER !!!!

With New Avengers #26 Hawkeye is back
.

And he's got company.

"It's a story called 'The Ballad of Clint Barton and Wanda Maximoff,'" New Avengers writer Brian Bendis told Newsarama.

"It's not only the return of Hawkeye, it's the return of the Scarlet Witch. It's them coming face to face after the events of House of M. It's where they've been since House of M, when they found his costume," Bendis continued. "This issue connects a couple of moments in House of M #8 - we see a little hint of Wanda at the end, and we see the costume on the wall in Avengers Mansion. We see how that costume got there, and we see what Hawekeye's been doing, and how he basically can't get on with his life until he confronts Wanda. So he's looking for her, and he finds her. So it's what they've been doing, and what the future has in store."

The issue is drawn by Bendis' former Daredevil and Illuminati Special collaborator, Alex Maleev in, as Bendis described it, a new style. "Alex is a true artist with many painting and drawing styles at his disposal. When we were doing Daredevil, we were both locked into a style of storytelling. You can experiment and vary from there, depending on the story, but the story has a tone that you want to keep consistent. Now that we're done with that and moving to other projects, there's much more room for him to show off. This is another place for him to do that."

As for some of the questions the return of Hawkeye and the Scarlet Witch may raise…the issue covers a…period of time.

"It's Marvel time, and you try not to pull at that strong too hard, because the whole thing will unravel," Bendis said. "But time has passed, and things have been gong on in the Marvel Universe, and they are acknowledged."

As such, the issue will have scenes that take place during recent events in the Marvel Universe, but - Bendis stressed, Hawkeye and Scarlet With won't be shown as players behind the scenes.

"No, no - Clint's been completely off the radar, and this shows where he's been. All will be answered.

"Although, not everyone's going to like it. I would love if everyone did. Motteditor - I'm telling you right now if you're reading this - you're not going to like it. I didn't write it to piss you off, but it just might happen that way. But you never know, and you might like it."

Though it would make sense in the eyes of many fans, the issue isn't about Hawkeye hunting down the woman who killed him, brought him back to life, and then, well…killed him again. It's a bit more psychological, as Hawkeye tries to come to grips with his death, life, death, and life again.

"No one's come back from the dead, having been murdered not once, but twice, by someone who was a friend that they loved, and had a romantic inkling towards when they first met - and then come back to deal with that," Bendis said.

"It's a very unique psychological situation, but we try to tell it as real as possible. There's a myriad of emotions washing over each of them at the same time, and that's what we're going to deal with here. That's why Alex is the perfect artist for the story, because my favorite moments in Daredevil were the ones where, without words being spoken, he could get across tons of emotions from Matt Murdock. It's something that Alex does very well, and I can trust that it will be there."

Following #26, Leneil Yu joins the series as the regular artist - and Bendis couldn't be happier.

"Leniel's already an issue deep into his run. I can't comment on Ultimate Wolverine versus Hulk, other than to say the delay wasn't Leniel and his ability to put out a book. He's as fast as Bagley, and they're beautiful pages. So issue #27 is all the mystery in finding out what's happened with Ronan during Civil War, and what's happened in Japan since we left that story.

"That issue also debuts the new roster of the New Avengers, all of whom will appear in the issue. I can tell you that there are quite a few characters in there that Leniel draws fantastically. He's really making it his own. I know I'm so many months ahead in talking about this, but when people see Cho's Avengers and Leniel's Avengers….just seeing two artists just own their books is going to be very cool."

Bendis said that he's working to write the series upcoming issues' to Yu's strengths, working to see the world as the artist sees it. "I've re-read Superman: Birthright and his other stuff from Wildstorm - there are certain storytelling things that I saw he does exceptionally well, or could maybe be pushed to the next level, all that on top of the fact that we've already worked on the issue #22 together, and people seem to have liked his stuff there. I'm just keeping the mindset of writing towards all of his strengths, plus trying to push both if us somewhere different. Certainly, giving him ninjas to lock on to is right up his alley.

"There's one character in particular who's not been on the Avengers before who's on this team that Leniel is exceptional at drawing, and I thought he would be. He's never drawn him before, and I thought he would draw an exceptional version of him, and he does. So you gotta put that guy right in the foreground."

And no, Bendis isn't saying who that guy is - or even that much about who's on the reconstituted New Avengers.

"Iron Man? I don't know if Tony Stark even makes it out of Civil War. I don't know who's wearing that Iron Man armor. I don't know who's wearing the Captain America costume. Iron Fist is Daredevil? Who knows what's going on? Everyone could've switched one costume to the right."

Alright, but in broad strokes…

"Leneil's first issue…the biggest question people have had about Ronin is how she's been shown as a guy, but is a hot girl - all of that will be answered. All of that was planned from the beginning. This story unfolds from her point of view, and then breaks into Elektra and the Hand fighting the new New Avengers. Yes I know - it's the 'new New.'

"Meanwhile, the B story is how this team got together, and how it got out of the country, and how will they ever get back into the country…if they are indeed, the resistance Avengers, versus the non-resistance Avengers. If there even is such a thing…"

BENDIS TALKS ILLUMINATI MINISERIES

Along with the more immediate implications though, the idea that these six individuals have played a role in many of the major events that shook the Marvel Universe hooked many readers' imaginations, and discussions sprung up in regards to what role the six played in certain events, as well as why they didn't step in to prevent other catastrophes.

So where have they been throughout Marvel history, and what has the Illuminati done?

Five issues, starting in November by Brian Bendis, Brian Reed and Jim Cheung will answer that.

MessageSujet: Re: News MARVEL VO   Sam 5 Aoû - 20:54

How can we put this?

Jeph Loeb.

Michael Turner.

Ultimate.

Wolverine.

2007.

That's the news coming out of today's Saturday’s Ultimate Panel at WizardWorld: Chicago. Both of these Marvel exclusive talents were announced at last year's show at this very venue, and speculation has been rampant on their potential collaboration and the extent of Turner's upcoming work with the House of Ideas. So far glimpsed only in some eye-popping covers for Wolverine: Origin [to your right] and Civil War, this (for the moment) six-issue limited series marks Turner's first interiors work for Marvel but a return to his frequent collaborator and friend in Loeb.

Superstar casting aside, Jeph Loeb has always maintained that his work is "all about the story". One has to wonder what story or idea drew him and Turner to this character and ultimately this mini-series.

"It's a chance to create something new with a character who is so familiar to the readership and to the public at large," said Loeb. "Michael Turner and I were at a dinner with [Marvel Editor-in-Chief] Joe Quesada in Los Angeles and were batting around ideas. Mike's sketchbook of the X-Men had just appeared in Wizard and it was very much on my mind. But the Marvel Universe is very tied together and interrupting any X-book is a complicated process, which is one of the reasons why I'm drawn to the Ultimate Universe. It's still small enough and new enough that creatively we can do something that is, for want of a better word, groundbreaking."

Groundbreaking's a good word to describe an Ultimate Wolverine mini0series with superstars Jeph Loeb and Michael Turner, and that's before even talking about the book itself.

"We were chasing a lot of ideas -- that's the joy of working with Joe Quesada, he's as good a writer as he is an artist -- when he hit on it... ’Ultimate Origin’. I just lit up and turned to Mike who was already spouting out dozens of ideas that it became very exciting right in the moment."

Will the story play off of or relate to Loeb's Lost colleague Damon Lindelof's Ultimate Hulk / Wolverine mini-series?

"How could it not? It's the first real exploration of the character in the present day sense and Damon's is such a gifted writer that I'm sure there are whole scenes I'll be ripping off," Loeb said with a laugh. "Seriously, though, he's laid some very powerful groundwork that will be extremely helpful in what we want to do both in the present and the past."

The character of Wolverine is one very familiar to Loeb. With an upcoming stint on the Marvel Universe's Wolverine title with Simon Bianchi and previous works on the character in the mid 90s, the adamantium-appendaged mutant is one that's surely been on Loeb's mind in recent months. One would wonder for Loeb if there is some kind of switch he flips, or different muscles he uses to craft a story for the Marvel Universe Wolverine with Bianchi and the Ultimate Universe Wolverine with Turner.

"Different artists and different characters," Loeb said bluntly. "In terms of storytelling, the Simone project is not a story I would tell with Turner and vice-versa. And of equal importance is the differences between the two characters."

"The Marvel Wolverine has been around for something like a few hundred years," said Loeb. "James (the Ultimate Wolverine) is a much younger character -- his roots don't go much further back than World War II and so whatever story we tell will be paced by the immediacy of his origins. It's really exciting."

But one has to ask, how the two iterations of Wolverine, James in the Ultimate universe and Logan in the Marvel Universe, match up. Loeb's obviously spent some time exploring both characters, has a keen awareness of their differences and similarities.

"When you're dealing with Logan [in the Marvel Universe], he's got so much baggage that you have to respect whatever has been done before," said Loeb. "And going into the past, such as the murder of Silver Fox, brings you to a town like Deadwood -- he always will have a historical context to his origin. It's part of the charm of the character."

"[Ultimate Wolverine] James, however, didn't come from that world. As much as I like what Jenkins and Kubert did on Origin, I always tease Joe Quesada that it read like a Dickens novel, David Copperfield as Wolverine," laughs Loeb. "

"In truth, I was just in awe of what they did and so if I don't joke about it, I'll be overwhelmed by it! So, I'm focusing more on the Ian Fleming [creator of James Bond] of the story. I like that James' story hasn't been fully explored yet, so we can go in any direction -- and with Turner, that's how you keep him engaged. Give him something ... unexpected."

Obtuse as he may be, Loeb did talk a little bit about what readers can look forward to in his Ultimate Wolverine run with Turner.

"I don't want to give away too much of what we're doing. I will only say that the similarities between the two [Wolverines] is that they are both men of great strength and power who are defined by the tragic circumstances of their love life. Think of On Her Majesty's Secret Service where James Bond actually got married and for the briefest of moments found happiness until tragedy struck. Death and love seem to hunt both of these characters and we'll see with James why that is -- and why it is so interwoven into the character."

With the disclosure of Turner's reoccurring medical condition at this year's San Diego Comic-con, critics and concerned fans are bound to wonder how it will affect this project. When asked about his friend and collaborator's status, Loeb was confidently optimistic.

"Mike's a champion, a true hero and if he says we're going, so we're going. My biggest problem is catching up with him!" exclaimed Loeb.

Loeb and Turner have shared a friendship for a number of years, and have collaborated on titles such as Superman/Batman for DC and Turner's own Soulfire at Aspen. But put their two names with Wolverine in any universe, and it's bound to be their biggest work to date.

Given Turner's renown for drawing the female form in titles such as Witchblade, Fathom and later Supergirl we asked Jeph Loeb why Michael's the go-to guy for this project in particular.

"Actually, I think of Mike as one of the finest storytellers we have working today," professed Loeb. "Just having him involved in anything makes it an event. He does Flash covers and BOOM -- everybody is reading that book! And what has me delighted is that while we were telling the Supergirl origin in Superman/Batman #8 – 13, it was a Batman and Superman story -- the two biggest male icons there are. I mean, all that's left at that level are Wolverine and Spider-Man."

"When I first saw Mike draw Batman coming out of the water with flames all around him -- in Superman/Batman#8 -- I remember writing into the script that Mike should think of Wolverine in terms of posture and attitude. I wanted Batman to be pissed off and nobody does pissed off better than Logan!" laughs Loeb. "And Turner captured it perfectly!"

…but what about Turner's admitted proficiency at drawing [ahem] women?

"Now, in terms of the babe factor I'm not an idiot -- despite what Geoff Johns might tell you," said Loeb. "The Superman/Batman story had to have Wonder Woman in it and much of the action played out on Amazon Island home of the Uberbabes. And we had Barda... homina, hominah, hominah."

“Hominah” indeed…

But how does it transfer to Ultimate Wolverine?

"Fortunately, Wolverine goes through women like ninjas, so I don't think finding strong female characters who devastate our hero will be difficult," quipped Loeb with a smirk. "And you can bet that Mike's depiction of them will devastate our readers!"

Extraits du "Joe Friday" de Newsarama ...

NRAMA: Illuminati limited series?

JQ: We’re going to dig deep and tell you the official origin of how this little group got together. Fans have really responded well to the Illuminati so we’re going to give them some more info and reveals as to what they’re all about.

NRAMA: Hawkeye’s return in New Avengers #26?

JQ: Hawkeye’s dead, I made sure of that. What in god’s name makes you think he’s alive? Heck, if I see him in Avengers I’m going to have Bendis kill him all over again but not before Speedball gets an arrow between the eyes in Frontline.

NRAMA: Finally, you said, “Yeah, I think we will see a new Thor series, I think you guys have waited long enough."

So okay, they kind of already knew there would be a new Thor series, so if they waited long enough, how about telling them what they really want to know?

JQ: Well, so much more will be clear after Civil War #4.

Civil War 4 et 5 repoussés d'une semaine ...c'est le bordel chez Marvel !! Suspect Suspect

mais aussi chez DC ...

update :

08.16.06 8:25am - When contacted for comment by Newsarama, writer Mark Millar said: "All I can say is that I'm as surprised by all this as you are. In fact, I only found out about it when I got up this morning and read my email. But you know what? This is a very cool thing for Marvel do to because it would have been so much easier to just go for a cheap fill-in artist instead of pushing back the books. Steve had virtually no lead-time on Civil War and a title with a million characters has proven much tougher than he expected. He and I both assumed a fill-in would be on the cards at some point, but Marvel credit Steve with a huge amount of our book's success and, as a creator, I'm genuinely stunned they spread the project out by another seven weeks to make it work for him. Marvel really took a bullet here. This pushes a lot of cash into the next financial quarter for them and they've really put product over profit here. I absolutely never expected them to work their entire publishing schedule around an art delay, but it's cool that they did and I totally take my hat off to them. Sure, it's horrible when a book we want is a little late, but I can live with a few weeks if it means getting Steve McNiven every issue. Apologies to readers and thanks to many people who were worried this meant I'd got sick again (I'm doing absolutely fine, thanks). This has been the biggest book of the millennium so far and it's clear people are passionate about waiting. But, honestly, it'll be worth it for seven issues of pure McNiven."
